During the talk I will explain the foundation of Wooptix, its partners, market, and applications, and I will extract a more general vision of how to proceed in new ventures from the academy, as we currently promote from the transfer office.

José Manuel holds a PhD in Astrophysics and is a full professor of Electronic Technology at the Universidad de La Laguna, where he currently serves as director of the transfer office (TTO). He is also the founder of Wooptix, historically the first spin-off of the Universidad de La Laguna.

His research began in Adaptive Optics through the atmosphere, developing and patenting several wavefront phase sensors, the latest of which for the first time captures a physical data per detector pixel. This technology is being applied by Wooptix in various fields: semiconductor metrology, ophthalmology, microscopy, etc.
